Daughters of the Pioneers
Tour of the historic Hotel Revere Building
March 17, 2003

On March 17, 2003, The Daughters of the Pioneers, one of Pomeroy's active historical organizations, toured the premises of the Hotel Revere.

Beverly gives introductory and historical background comments at the beginning of the tour.

Members of the Daughters of the Pioneers enjoy the interesting and humorous anecdotes during their tour.

Beverly shows off her fully restored 1919 Bell System telephone booth. The booth is lined with pressed tin and the original phone requires 5¢ for local calls.

The office of Castlemoyle Publishing illustrates the decor which will be found throughout the building. During this stage of the tour, Beverly describes former and current uses of the space.

Pointing out the structural features and interesting historical highlights of the oldest part of the historic hotel, Beverly describes how they will be preserved.

Showing off the nearly completed "Day Room," Beverly describes how the private family areas will fit into the historic theme.

In the "Master Suite," Beverly explains how modern conveniences have been incorporated in ways sensitive to the hotel's historic design.

The Daughters of the Pioneers get a sneak preview of the work being done on the second floor of the two-story portion of the building.

The third-floor tour begins with a look at the future "home school" classroom and Beverly's sewing room which joins it with glass doors.

Beverly blushes as she explains how the term "Resident's Bar" came to be associated  with the game room planned for the third floor.

In the "St. George Ballroom," Beverly explains the processes being used to restore and refinish the hotel's original woodwork.

A "tourist" line up to view the "gym", bath, exercise room, and sauna.

A few laughs were enjoyed along the way -- especially when Beverly explained the rationale behind such a small exercise room and a large sauna.

At the end of the tour, guests enjoyed tea and treats while Beverly answers questions about the hotel's history.

Rapt attention was achieved when Beverly began talking about Martha Pomeroy St. George's  role in Pomeroy history.
