Classes To Use New Church Wing

During the Christmas vacation, the desks and supplies for Mrs. Elma Austin's fourth grade class will be moved from the basement of the Christian church to the new educational wing in the Methodist church.

At the school board meeting Thursday evening, officials of the Methodist church offered the use of the wing to the district and it was accepted as it was felt that the quarters would be more suitable then the present ones.

The second grade classes of Miss Carol Dragseth's and Mrs. Otto Fitzgerald's, now in the Methodist church will also be moved to the new wing during the holiday. Still remaining in the Christian church Fellowship house will be Lottie Watson's third grade section.

News of a new pastor for the Christian church was seen on November 29, 1956:

Christian Church Hires Renzema As New Pastor

The Rev. Ray Renzema has accepted a call to the pulpit of the Pomeroy Christian church, left vacant by the resignation of the Rev. Ronald Yates who is now pastor of the Christian church in Kennewick.

The Rev. Renzama, associate pastor at the Central Christian church in Walla Walla for the last five and one-half years, gave his 60-day notice there this week. He came to Walla Walla from the West Side Church of Christ, Eugene, Oregon, which he served three years—two years while he was attending Northwest Christian College there and a year after he graduated.

He was born in Springfield, South Dakota, coming west with his family to Ashland, Oregon in 1937. The Rev. and Mrs. Renzema were married in 1948 and they have two daughters, Ruby Ann, 6, and Laura Rae, 3 1/2 years.

Renzema has been active in the work of the Ministerial Association during his residence in Walla Walla. He served as head of its education committee two years, directed its publicity committee one year and its radio committee another year. Currently he is chairman of its welfare and institution committee.

He has also done considerable vocal work while in Walla Walla, having served as director of the Central Christian choir and otherwise having given vocal service in the community.
