Recent Activities of the Chairwoman

Recent activities of Beverly L. Adams-Gordon, chairwoman of the Commission, have included:

May 6: Attended the May meeting of the Pomeroy City Council, where Consultant and Historic Preservationist Sally Donovan presented an update and slide show on the progress of the Pomeroy Downtown Historic District.

May 5: Attended a meeting of the Garfield County Senior Citizens and spoke to them about the upcoming public meeting with consultant Sally Donovan on Downtown Pomeroy's nomination as a National Historic District.

April 7: Attended the planning meeting for the 2003 Tumbleweed Festival. (This year's event will be held June 13-15.)

March 18: Attended the annual meeting of the Garfield County Museum. 

March 17: The historic Hotel Revere (owned by Adams-Gordon) was the location of the March meeting of the Pomeroy Daughters of the Pioneers. Ms. Adams-Gordon led a tour of the building (currently under complete renovation) and reviewed the Historic Commission for the attendees.

February: Attended the February meeting of the Pioneer Association. During this meeting the Pioneers decided to ask Michael Houser, Architectural Historian for the Washington State Office of Archaeology & Historic Preservation to speak at their annual meeting, June 14 at the Seeley Opera House.

January 26: Attended the Community Open House and information gathering session at the Garfield County Senior Center. This meeting was set up by Sally Donovan, lead consultant for the Downtown Pomeroy's nomination to the State and Federal Historic Registers.
