This is a "Territorial
Cover," as Washington State was admitted into the Union on
November 11, 1889.
The Academy of the Sacred Heart was a
Catholic School with teachers from the Dominican Order. During the
1900's, the parish (Holy Rosary) opened it's own school, which was
staffed by Sisters of the Holy Names.
Joseph Pomeroy, founder (with Martha
Pomeroy) of the town died during July 1889.
