Pomeroy Washington Downtown National Historic District
Denny Morgan, County Native, passed Saturday, April 2, 1960. for the late Denny Morgan, 61, at the Garfield County Memorial Hospital. He had been a leukemia patient there for five days and had been ill since January.
Mr. Morgan was born April 11, 1898, to Francis and Addie Morgan, Pomeroy, and had lived in Garfield County all his life. He farmed for years on the New York Gulch northwest of Pomeroy until 1943 when he retired and moved to town.
He was a member of the Christian Church. On February 1, 1917, he married Sylvis Stradley in Pomeroy. He is survived by her; two sons, Walter E. and Claude E. Morgan, Pomeroy, a daughter, Mrs Jack (Gladys Mae) Hatley, Asotin, and four brothers, Francis, Harold, Clarence and Wilbur, all of Pomeroy, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5, at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers were Lester Van Dyke, Merle Baldwin, Ellsworth Bartlow, Max Kimble, Ralph Watson and Jim Scott. Honorary pallbearers were Emory Dye, William Koller, Harry McCanse, Robert Batterton, Justin Fitzgerald, Chet Obenland and Albert Young. The services were held from the Pomeroy Christian Church, the Rev. Ray Renzema, pastor officiating, and Richardson Funeral Home in charge. Burial was in city cemetery. Graveside services were conducted by the Odd Fellows Lodge.
