PETER WELLER

In the passing of Peter Weller Garfield county loses a pioneer whose life has been a record of faithful and capable endeavor. A resident for 36 years, he saw the beginning of the county's prosperity, as well as the lean years that preceded it.

He was here when the few accepted the scant accommodations that waited on pioneer life and were happy in spite of their poverty. He experienced the subsequent change when many found it possible to build good homes, develop the resources of the county and compass the happiness that is achieved by active prosperity.

His friends and business associates throughout these years will tell you that Peter Weller was an honest man; that he was kind hearted, cheerful, companionable. Those who knew him well deeply mourn his death.
