Pomeroy Washington Downtown National Historic District
A pall of gloom fell upon many persons in Pomeroy Wednesday, occasioned by the announcement of the death of Earl Ball, whose serious condition was mentioned last week.
Earl was but 23 years old and his death comes to his relatives with a crushing weight of grief, and is sincerely mourned by his circle of friends.
The funeral was held Thursday, the Rev. S. Bartlow conducting the service and interment being made in the cemetery on the Pataha Flat. The pall bearers were: Harry McGee, Herl Crumpacker, Ed and Francis Fanning, John Scarbrough and Frank Parker.
He leaves, beside his parents, seven sisters and a brother.

Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McKeirnan arrived home Sunday from Genesee, where they had been called by a message stating that Mrs. McKeirnan's brother, Thomas Linehan, was dangerously ill. He died at 8 o'clock Tuesday morning [4 Mar 1913*], and Mr. and Mrs. McKeirnan did not arrive until the evening of the next day.
He was in his 67th year. He leaves a widow, three daughters and four sons. Two of the daughters are married, one of them resides in Oregon City and the other in Genesee. The third daughter is going to school in Spokane.
Three sons live at Tekoa, and one at Genesee. Mr. Linehan's death was the result of the disastrous accident which occurred last fall at Moscow. He was so badly bruised and injured internally that he could not recover. The immediate cause of his death was a cancer which formed as a result of the injury.
Mr. and Mrs McKeirnan expected to return home Saturday but a freight train got off the track on the Genesee line and blockaded it, checking traffic for one day.
