MARENGO

The people around here are busy binding their grain hay. The grain is ripening rapidly during the past warm days.

Walt Moser visited his brother in Starbuck last week. His brother has been ill.

Ed McFalls drove to Dayton last week to get the children of Mrs. Inez Heifer. The young ladies came from Yakima and will stay until after July 4th at the home of their grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. McFalls.

M. D. Parris has been hauling wood from the mountains for George Bowles.

Mrs. I. O. Hovrud was much surprised Sunday when her brother, Einar Dahl and daughter, and Miss Seeby of Great Falls, Montana, stopped at the Hovrud home for a visit. It had been 20 years since they had seen each other. The visitors went to Spokane Monday evening.

Warren Howard, Mrs. Effie Duty and Mrs. Emma Howard and son were Dayton shoppers Monday.

Mrs. Emil Hovrud and Miss Zelma Fuller went to Pomeroy Tuesday.

UPPER TUCANNON

This community was shocked to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Cy Zwanzig Monday noon. She was not known to have been ill, although she had had attacks of asthma at different times during the past several years. The doctor said death was due to pneumonia.

Mrs. Bessie Larsen of Tacoma is visiting her mother, Mrs. Art Oliver.

Mrs. F. P. Lint and two daughters of Clarkston and a nephew of Mrs. Lint from Michigan are at Dr. Lint's summer camp on the upper Tucannon.

PATAHA FLAT

Mr. and Mrs. George Rice had as dinner guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Roller, Miss Doris Shelton and Edwin Roller.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hoppe visited Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hoppe at Southwick, Idaho, Sunday, going by way of Juliaetta and Rendrick and returning over the new highway that opened to travel Sunday in the Orofino section.

John Keatts and John Jr., and Berger Reatts have been in the mountains this week cutting wood and telephone poles. Susan, Virginia and Eleanor Reatts went with them Friday for a picnic.

Henry Wade and Joe Martin were helping Harvey Light repair his combine the first of the week.

Mr. and Mrs. Elza Light and family and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ruark and family picnicked in the mountains Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Max Kimble have moved to the E. H. Kimble ranch near Pomeroy to make their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dixon spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hutchens.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Peterson motored to Clarkston beach Sunday where they were members of a swimming party.

Mr.and Mrs. Robert Bingman drove to Lewiston Sunday for cherries.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Taylor, Mrs. Charles Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Light were Lewiston visitors Monday.

Otto Fitzgerald finished painting the schoolhouse last Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hutchens and Merle and Dorothy spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Sammie Robertson.
